  • 2 days before leaving for Lake Tahoe I woke up with a sore throat and full on body aches. I had to act fast, and fasting is my secret weapon!

Comment FAST for all my favorite tricks when I’m fasting.

Months ago I had heard a doctor here on Instagram say that if they ever feel a cold coming on, they always fast for 24 hours to stop it. I tried it and it works! The reason it works is because the body goes into repair mode when it’s not busy digesting food, and it’s able to halt the virus from replicating.

I drank lots of green tea that day, which I think helped boost my immune system by flooding it with antioxidants.

Next time you feel a cold coming on, give it a try and let me know if it works for you!

  • Pantry tour 💕 we spend $1,000 per month on groceries and here’s what is in my pantry.

Comment DRINK for my all time favorite electrolytes and protein powder! I’ve tried so many, even Flave City, and Just Ingredients beats them all for flavor and ingredients!

Not everything is a perfect choice. We have a few 👎 products, but mostly because we entertain a lot or bring food to different events and I don’t impose my eating choices on everyone ❤️ but I try! 😂 99% of the food made in my kitchen follows my health standards for my family, which is eat real food. That’s it. We keep it simple and it seems to work well!

The biggest budget buster in every pantry… snacks! Minimize snacks and you’ll see a huge difference!

  • Total cost for our Spring Break trip to Lake Tahoe was $1,162.00! I’m pretty happy with that ❤️ We were gone 5 nights.

How can you go on vacation, have an absolute blast, and save money?!? Pick a place to explore. Make hiking a huge part of the adventure and spend lots of time around water, whether it’s a lake or the beach.

We got an Airbnb, cooked all of our food (minus 2 trips to In N Out on our travel days), and kept our expenses low. Instead of buying the $6.00 ice cream cones per person, we went to Grocery Outlet and bought 2 boxes of ice cream bars for $6.00!

•We hiked to Picnic Rock which was fun because the higher we went the more snow we had to hike through.
•Hiked to Eagle Falls and saw Lower Eagle Falls.
•Some trails were closed for the season like Rubicon or snowed in, so we just played in the snow for a few hours.
•Ate our packed lunch at the lookout of Emerald Bay.
•We played on the boulders and some of the kids ice plunged at Sand Harbor Beach.
•Road the free gondola near the Ritz-Carlton.
•Played at various beaches everyday ❤️

We all had an absolute blast! Wonderful vacations can happen on a budget. Tell us your favorite budget friendly vacations!

  • Peanut butter cookies and banana pudding are the ultimate combo! If you haven't tried it, are you even living? 😂 just kidding.

Comment HOME for one of my newest recipes on the blog, Healthy Reese’s Cups, perfect for Easter!

When I first got married, I opened an issue of southern living at the dental office and found the most scrumptious banana pudding recipe using Nutter butters instead of vanilla wafers. We’ve never gone back. Peanut butter cookies, and banana pudding are just simply delicious.
.
I like to make the cookies tiny, they just are more fun that way, but you could totally make them a standard size if you’d like to make more of a trifle presentation.
.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup oat flour
1/4 cup maple syrup
.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix all ingredients together, and form into half tablespoon size round balls.
stamp with the back end of a fork.
Bake in a 325° oven for 6 minutes.
.
To make the pudding, I simply mixed together a 1/2 cup of cornstarch with 4 cups of oat milk. I added a pinch of salt, a dash of nutmeg, 1/4 cup maple syrup, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Cook on the stove until thickened and chill in the fridge. When serving, add freshly sliced bananas, your favorite whipped cream, and, of course the cookies!

  • Raise kids to love healthy foods! It’s not as hard as you might think.

Comment GUIDE to learn more about how I manage my kitchen! You’ll absolutely love the freezer recipes too!

Here’s our approach. At home we eat very healthy, but when we leave the house they decide (our kids are 10-15) when they have school parties or something, it’s their choice. We prep them though to think before they choose. Often we get responses after with “I don’t feel good after eating (blank).” Or “mom you’ll be so happy I didn’t choose to eat (blank).”

1. We eat the same amazing breakfast every morning, eggs with sourdough and fruit.
2. We have an arsenal of lunch recipes I make from scratch that the kids love.
3. Dinners vary, but we keep them healthy and delicious!
4. Fridays always consist of a yummy treat, and I make homemade ice cream often!

  • How can we stick to a $1,000 grocery budget and buy organic, here’s how:

1. I have a @butcher_box delivered every 8 weeks, which costs $269. This gives us variety with our meat options. Then, I shop at Costco or Sam’s for organic whole chickens, chicken breasts for marinating, and grass-fed ground beef.

Comment BUTCHER to get free meat!

2. I often cook 1 pound of ground beef, and add beans to bulk it up.

3. I make all our own bread items with my sourdough starter. Homemade bread is extremely cheap! I buy the organic flour from Costco. Comment BREAD for all my recipes!

4. We eat the same breakfast almost every single day! Sourdough, eggs, and fruit. For fruit we stick mostly with bananas and oranges, and frozen blueberries.

5. Lunches are cheap! For the kids, I have an arsenal of recipes we make, and I keep them as cheap as possible. For my husband, he eats a sourdough pb&honey everyday with fruit salad: apple, orange, melon, blueberries. I eat some meat or beans with a carrot, beet, and apple everyday.

6. Dinners vary, but we keep the same system. A protein, salad, and a carb.

7. We rarely eat out. 99% of our meals are made from scratch at home. I use my Instant Pot a lot!!! It’s great as a pressure cooker, but it’s also a crockpot too! Comment KITCHEN for all of my favorite kitchen gadgets.

  • Hospitality is simply love in action—welcoming others in, feeding them well, and making space for sweet conversation around the table.

Comment MIX for my go-to seasoning blend.

I get asked often for meal ideas when entertaining, so here’s how I prepare for entertaining.

•How many people am I serving?
•What’s the best protein to serve? Beef, pork, or chicken?
•What’s my theme? Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean, American?
•What’s my salad going to have on it?
•What’s my vegetable or carb like potatoes, rice, or pasta?
•Am I serving bread, tortillas, or naan?
•What’s my dessert?
•What beverages am I serving?

Men’s Night Menu:
•Cheeseburgers on sourdough hamburger buns
•Big salad with cucumbers, carrots, cheese, and olives with Trader Joe’s Caesar dressing
• @sietefoods chips and dips
•Sourdough strawberry shortcake with whipped cream

My go-to favorite for seasoning meat, potatoes and salad dressing is my Copycat Good Seasoning Italian Dressing mix 🤩 Comment MIX for the recipe!

Comment BREAD if you’re ready to start your sourdough journey! I would love to help you ❤️

For the coolest cheese and veggies shredder, comment AMAZON. It’s under Kitchen Essentials.
