Anyways, so now that you know about the challenge, you can see that we are saving $1000 this month, which means I cut our normal $140 weekly grocery budget down to $40 per week! We are crazy and super excited to save money! So here’s what I got today:
Aldi’s Trip: Spent $35.92
Favorite Deals:
Avocados: $.25 each
Strawberries: $.89 per pound
Gala apples, 3/lb bag: $2.19
Clancy’s Cheese Curls: $.89
Gluten-Free Bread: $2.79
Sprouts Trip: Spent $3.75
One of my daughter’s came to me last week and asked if I could buy some blueberries. I told her that I would if I could get them on sale. Sprout’s has them on sale this week for $1.25 per package, so on my husband’s way home from class he picked them up for her.
Blueberries: $1.25 per package
GRAND TOTAL FOR THE WEEK: $39.67

The reason I am able to only spend $40 per week for all the groceries we need, is because last month I saved a lot of our grocery money and bought meat on sale. So my freezer is stocked full of meat to get us through the whole month of May.
Weekly Menu Plan:
Breakfasts:
- gf oatmeal pancake muffins, frozen waffles and sausage, homemade granola, cereal
Lunches:
- sandwiches with chips and fruit, vegetable soup, yogurt cups, salad, leftovers
Dinners:
- Meatloaf with hash brown casserole and marinated zucchini spears
- Slow cooker Lemon Garlic pork loin with gf pasta and peas
- Baked potato bar
- Leftovers
- Chicken salad and nibble plates
- Roasted chicken and potatoes, with green beans
- Chicken enchiladas with corn and beans

How I wish it was that cheap in Canada. I pay at least 3.99$ for 1 pound of strawberries on sale. That pack of blueberries also is 3.99 sometimes more. Here, in New-Brunswick it’s expensive for food.
I’m so sorry to hear that. Is frozen fruit any cheaper?
Same. 25 cents for a avocado is 2 dollars or more for 1 here. 9 dollars for berries.
