If you run out of milk late at night and don’t have a cow in the backyard to get more, you can easily whip up this oat milk in a matter of a few minutes!

Last night my daughter said she wanted oat bowls for breakfast, but we were out of oat milk. YIKES! It was already 9:30pm and I couldn’t get more. No worries because I have the most delicious oat milk recipe! As long as you have oats and water you can make it, but we like to add a few extra ingredients to make it even better!

Start With 2-Ingredients

In a high speed blender, simply add oats and water and blend. Yep, you can’t get much easier than that! The hardest part is putting the oat milk through a milk bag, or fine mesh strainer. These are the milk bags that I have, shown below.

Final Steps

Tie up the milk bag to a cabinet door and let the oat milk drop into a large bowl for about 10-30 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir to combine.

There is no cooking. You are done! Pour into a beverage container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It’s absolutely delicious! I typically use a 64oz Ball glass jar.

I use oat milk in oat bowls and my hot tea. Every morning I make myself a cup of cinnamon tea and I add a splash of oat milk. It’s delicious!!!!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 10 cups water
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup or other liquid sweetener
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)

Instructions

  • In a high speed blender, add oats and 5 cups of water. Blend for 30 seconds.
  • Pour oat mixture through a nut milk bag, or fine mesh strainer. Do not squeeze the bag, or your milk will become gummy from squeezing the oats. You can lightely squeeze if you're in a hurry, but try to avoid it.
  • Hang your nut milk bag on a cabinet door, with the bowl underneath, and let it just do it's thing for a few minutes.
  • Now add the additional water, sweetener, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir together to combine.
  • Pour oat milk into a jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The oat milk will separate. Simply shake the milk before using.
