We Always Make Our Own Bulk Granola Recipe – instead of buying it

There is something deeply comforting about having a big jar of homemade bulk granola sitting in the pantry. It’s one of those simple, from-scratch staples that make everyday breakfasts feel more nourishing without adding extra work to your week. I love making this bulk granola because it uses basic pantry ingredients I already keep on hand, like oats, flaxseed meal, maple syrup, coconut oil, and warm cinnamon, turning them into something that feels special but takes very little effort.

Also, buying granola is great when you’re out of town, but when you’re home, it’s so expensive, and the more affordable options are laden with seed oils.

the oats I buy

I purchase One Degree Oats because they are sprouted and organic. When I ate a vegan diet, I actually ate a copious amount of oat bowls, and I got cavities! Like way more than normal. My dentist told me it was from too many oats, beans, and grains. I was shocked, but knew I needed to find a way to still enjoy those foods without all the phytic acid. That’s where sprouting comes in. Sprouting grains actually breaks down phytic acid, preventing cavities.

  • Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • Coconut Oil
  • Flaxseed Meal
  • Water
  • Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pure Maple Syrup

Additional Add-Ins:

  • Dried Fruit

Double The Granola and Freeze It For Later

You can easily double this recipe and store half in the freezer for later. Just reheat in the oven for 10 minutes, and you’re good to go!

This simple bulk granola is especially perfect for topping yogurt bowls. The light crunch pairs beautifully with creamy yogurt, fresh berries, and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup. I love how it turns a simple bowl into something that feels balanced and intentional, combining fiber-rich oats and flax with real food ingredients you can feel good about serving your family. Keeping a jar ready in the pantry makes healthy eating feel effortless, which is exactly the kind of simple system that supports a real food lifestyle.

    1. Yes, a simple syrup would work. Just dissolve equal parts sugar into hot or boiling water. 1 cup sugar = 1 cup water. It works as a great substitute.
