Very Best Vegan Burger Patties

Hey friends! Man life has been fun lately, and these burger patties make dinner exciting! The consistency and flavor is out-of-this-world good. They are packed full of flavor and well worth the effort.

I know there’s some prep-work… I know, I know… that part is not fun. Here’s what I do to make the process easier. I meal plan each week, so I know the meals I will be making. A lot of the time, the night before I want these burger patties, I will make sweet potatoes for dinner and cook extras for this recipe.

I make brown rice every week! Seriously, we eat a lot of it in a variety of ways, so often times I’ll measure out what I need for this recipe, and set it aside in a different container. That way, the day I make these, the prep work is done!

Remember, you can just cook a sweet potato in the microwave! Just wash it, and wrap it in damp paper towels. Microwave for 7-8 minutes, and you have a cooked sweet potato.

***I will double the recipe often and freeze the leftovers. (Do not double the recipe in one batch in your food processor!!! I have done this and the consistency is different… not good!) I wrap them individually in plastic wrap and store in the freezer, then when I want to cook one, I just put it in the toaster a few times. YUMMY!!!!

Homemaker On A Budget
Prep Time 10 minutes

Total Time 35 minutes
Cuisine Main Dishes, Recipes
Servings 6 patties

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked brown rice any kind of rice will work
  • 1 cup cooked sweet potato skin removed
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 (15oz) can black beans drained and rinsed
  • 2 Tbsp. ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Combine all ingredients into a food processor. Mix until all ingredients are incorporated, this takes a good minute or two.
  • Using a 1/2 cup measuring cup, scoop mixture into cup, then use a spatula to pour the mixture onto your baking sheet. You should be able to fit 6-7 burger patties.
  • Once all your patties are on the baking sheet, wet your hands with water and form the batter into patties. Keep wetting your hands, so the mixture doesn't stick to you.
  • Sprinkle a bit of salt on top of each patty, then put in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
  • ***Extra step that is not required. Once the patties cool, I like to toast them in the toaster a few times to get both sides of the patties crunchy. The texture is amazing!
