8 Home Remedies To Feel Better Fast When Sick

I have developed 8 strategies to feel better fast when you’re sick. The key is to do all 8 of these tips to really feel your best in no time.

Over the past 6 years I have only been sick 3 times. I believe a lot of that has to do with my diet of being whole food plant based. However, on the occasion I will feel a sore throat or get a stuffy nose and realize I need to knock these symptoms before I get worse. These 8 strategies work, so let me share them with you.

1. Steamer Tent

A steamer tent is where you take a bowl of boiling water, add essential oils if you’d like, and put a towel over your head as you breathe in the hot steam for 5 minutes. This helps open up your sinuses and gets the junk moving out of your nasal passage.

I like to add 1 drop peppermint essential oil and 1 drop oregano essential oil. This was first suggested to me by my mother-in-law who sees a holistic doctor. I do not recommend this oil combination on children, but I have added 1 drop lavendar to the water for my children.

2. Chest Rub, Saline Nasal Spray, Gargle with Salt Water

Using a chest rub, using saline nasal spray, and gargling with warm salt water will really help keep the bacteria in your throat and nasal cavity at bay. The goal is to flush the toxins out of your system and these really help!

3. Ginger, Lemon, and Honey Tea

I will drink this combination of tea throughout the day. I will boil water, add 3 fresh slices of ginger, 2 slices of lemon, and 1 tablespoon of honey. Another great suggestion would be to add a green tea bag to help boost your immune system.

4. Blueberries

Blueberries are a powerhouse food that will boost your immune system. Many people get stuck on organic vs. non-organic and I believe we need to focus more on just eating the blueberries. Eating blueberries will help you so much more than not eating them at all.

Anytime I’m in between a meal, I eat blueberries. I eat them throughout the day in 1 cup portions. I even eat blueberries before I go to bed.

5. Carrot Juice

About 6 months ago I was doing a lot of research about carrot juice and how it can help cure cancer. I figured that if carrot juice can help cure cancer, then surely it can help me feel better faster from being sick. It works!!!

If you are interested in learning more about carrot juice and it’s bnefits to cancer, then go to https://www.chrisbeatcancer.com/ and search carrot juice.

The recommended dose of carrot juice for cancer therapy, according to the testimonials in the above website, is 5 pounds of carrots juiced. This is the amount I drink when I’m trying to feel better and it does a great job at eliminating my symptoms.

You might be asking, what juicer should I buy? I believe you should buy whichever one works within your budget. There are so many options these days. Read the reviews and figure out the price point that you are most comfortable with. I like juicing, and I really wanted one that would last a long time, so I went with the NAMA. The best part about the NAMA J2 juicer is that you can load it with fruits and veggies and walk away. There’s no need to feed each piece of produce.

6. Make Red Lentil Soup Recipe

This is such a cheap an inexpensive soup to make, but it’s incredibly good for you. Often times I will add 1 piece of kombu to the soup to help boost the nutritional value. Kombu has a long list of minerals and vitamins that I believe are essential for good health. I even added 1 teaspoon of mushroom powder to the soup for the same reason.

7. Increase Vitamins

I truly believe in the power of good quality vitamins. When I get sick I up the amount of 2 of my vitamins. I up the vitamin C to 1500mg per day and Zinc to 50mg per day. When my symptoms are gone, then I decrease these amounts back to my normal daily regimen.

Here is my daily vitamin regimen when I’m not sick:

In order to drive that zinc into your cells, it’s important to take the power house trio quercetin, vitamin d, and vitamin c. These will help your body absorb the zinc and get you feeling better faster.

8. Pause Intermittent Fasting Until Symptoms Subside

I love intermittent fasting, but when I’m not feeling well I pause it. It’s important to really focus on boosting my system with nutrients to flush out my body of toxins and whatever virus or bacteria I’m fighting. In order to feel better fast focus on the foods listed above. Once you’re feeling 100% again, start intermittent fasting like you never stopped.

If you are tryin to lose weight, you might really struggle with stopping the fasting. I do the 16:8 method, but I stop focusing on the weight loss and I put all my energy into feeling better, so that my symptoms don’t get worse.

Also, please remember I am not a doctor. I share these tips because they work for me and hopefully they will work for you. As always, please consult a healthcare professional to make sure these tips will work for you.
