Simple Boiled Apples
Simple boiled apples are definitely the easiest side dish for any meal, including school lunches. My kids love taking a little cup of simple boiled apples with them in their lunch box.

Boiled Apples
Simple dishes like these boiled apples are my favorite. Not the ones with several different ingredients, but ones that have 1 main ingredient and a few other ingredients just to enhance the flavor of the shining star. Today’s recipe is all about the apple. Apples are definitely a fall favorite. They are very cheap this time of year, around $.60/lb, and are very versatile.
What started the craze for boiled apples in our home was when my oldest started having a lot of tummy issues. Our chiropractor told me to not feed her any raw fruits and veggies, but to boil or bake them. That’s when the light bulb turned on for me, and I started boiling apples for her lunches. Now, she takes these with her to school almost daily in her lunch box, and loves them. She says they taste like apple pie, so now my husband likes to take a container to work with him too.
Boiled apples have now become a family favorite and are requested often by my family for all kinds of meals. This simple recipe is perfect over oatmeal, for lunch with a sandwich, as a side dish for dinner, and on top of ice cream.
The recipe below shows you how to make a big batch, but you don’t have to. Sometimes if I’m in a hurry, I’ll just boil 1 or 2 apples. You can adjust the other ingredients how you prefer, and it’s so easy to do.

I made this with apples and peaches and it was so yummy! Especially great recipe to have on and when you have produce that is about to spoil!
Yummy!
We typically peel the skin off before boiling. We do not add cinnamon or honey. We also drink the water afterwards as that tastes so good, ha ha.
Great snack to have when the little ones are having flu or fever and won’t eat their usual food.
