How To Cook Rice (THE EASY WAY):
Rice is one of the cheapest grains you can eat. That is why when people say they are on the beans and rice budget, that means they are eating as cheap as possible. Rice is just amazing because you can feed a lot of mouths for very little money! Let me show you how to cook rice the easy way.

For a lot of people, they want to cook rice, but they just don’t know how. The method I use for how to cook rice is the one I was raised on, and I have never had a problem with this method. It works EVERY SINGLE TIME! A rice cooker would be a total waste of money for me because it’s just simply not needed.
There Are Several Varieties of Rice
The varieties of rice seem endless. Because we eat plant based, rice is a staple for us. We eat rice most days in some way. Having a nice variety or rice to choose from is important for us. To find different varieties, visit a grocery store with a bulk section. We typically buy our rice in bulk because it’s cheaper. Here are a few of our favorite varieties of rice:
- Medium grain brown rice
- Black jasmine rice
- Brown Jasmine rice
- Red rice
- Basmati rice
You Can Double The Recipe
The recipes for how to cook rice, can easily be doubled. You still cook the rice for the same amount of time given below. Do not double the cooking time or you will get very mushy rice. Simply double to ingredients, not the cook time, and you will have delicious rice for a crowd!

How To Cook White & Brown Rice
Ingredients
White Rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup white rice
Brown Rice
- 2 1/4 cups water
- 1 cup brown rice
Instructions
How To Cook WHITE Rice
- Pour 2 cups of water in a saucepan, place the lid on top and heat on the stove until water comes to a boil. Once water is boiling, pour rice in and stir. Place the lid back on the saucepan, and reduce the heat to low. Set the timer for 20 minutes and walk away! Do not touch the lid at all. Once the timer goes off, turn the heat off and walk away again for 10 minutes, do not touch the lid! After 10 minutes is up, your rice is ready to serve!
How To Cook BROWN Rice
- Pour 2 1/4 cups of water in a saucepan, place the lid on top and heat on the stove until water comes to a boil. Once water is boiling, pour rice in and stir. Place the lid back on the saucepan, and reduce the heat to low. Set the timer for 40 minutes and walk away! Do not touch the lid at all. Once the timer goes off, turn the heat off and walk away again for 10 minutes, do not touch the lid! After 10 minutes is up, your rice is ready to serve!
