Benefits of Cucumber Juice

We know that vitamins and minerals help the body build its natural defenses against disease by providing essential nutrients. We juice because juicing floods the bloodstream with nutrients.

Cucumber, watermelon, apple, basil, and lime provide hydration, lycopene, quercetin, vitamin C, and powerful plant antioxidants that help support healthy cells and overall wellness. Here’s a breakdown of how each ingredient impacts the body:

  • Cucumbers contain a host of vitamins and minerals, are incredibly hydrating (they’re made up of around 95% water), and they’re very low in caloric density.
  • Watermelon contains lycopene, a powerful antioxidant. It’s also very high in water content. Consuming watermelon regularly can aid in weight management and support cardiovascular health.
  • Basil is a terrific source of Vitamin K and contains many natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial essential oils. It can help reduce stress and aid in managing blood sugar levels.
  • Limes & lemons are low in sugar and high in Vitamin C. They’re also known to help prevent kidney stones and enhance skin health.
  • Apples are incredibly nutritious. They contain pectin, a soluble fiber that is great for gut health, while also helping to lower cholesterol, blood pressure, and regulate blood sugar.

The Best Juicer for Cucumber Juice

I’m obsessed with my Hurom slow juicer! It uses slow squeeze technology, which mimics a natural and manual hand-squeeze approach.  The official website boasts, “This natural motion minimizes damage to ingredients, keeping natural taste and nutrition intact.” It’s consistently praised for its versatility, quality materials, and higher yields.

Cucumber Juice Recipe

First, peel the citrus and remove the watermelon from the rind. It is not necessary to remove the cucumber skin or the apple core. You will want the nutrients from these.

Aimee from Homemaker on a Budget combines cucumber, watermelon, basil, apples, and basil to make a healthy, healing juice.

Next, juice all 5 ingredients together. To achieve a stronger lemonade flavor, add more lime, or a combination of oranges, lemons, and limes.

Finally, check the consistency. If you prefer, you can double-strain the juice to remove more pulp. If serving, feel free to garnish with a sprig of mint or basil and pour over ice, but avoid using too much ice as this will dilute the juice.

I hope you enjoy this refreshing, delicious, anti-cancer watermelon, apple, and cucumber juice with fresh basil and limes! It’s the perfect summer drink to keep us all feeling hydrated, healthy, and happy!

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What cucumbers should I use? You can use any variety. English cucumbers are mild and without too many seeds; Japanese cucumbers are also popular for juicing due to their sweet profile. Any garden cucumber will do, or if purchasing from the store, I recommend buying organic.
  2. What if my cucumbers taste bitter? Sometimes this depends on the variety of cucumber. However, one trick is to cut a cucumber in half, and rub the middles together until they “froth” for about a minute or so, then rinse. This helps to remove some of the bitterness.
  3. Should I wash my produce before juicing? Yes, give the produce a good wash or rinse since you will be using some of the skin in the juicer. Purchase organic when possible to eliminate the risk of unwanted pesticide residue and toxins.
  4. What kind of apples should I use? Use any that you like! Most apples will naturally sweeten your drink, but if you prefer a more tart juice, try Granny Smith apples.
  5. How long can I refrigerate juice? Drink within 24 hours to maintain the nutrient profile. After this, the juice will begin to break down.
  6. Can I substitute cucumber watermelon juice for a meal? Juicing should not be used as a meal replacement. It’s best when used as a supplement to your diet and to promote healing between regularly scheduled, nutritious meals. Consult with your Doctor before ascribing to any trending juice fasting.
