Benefits of Blueberry Strawberry Smoothie

The best anti-inflammatory smoothie recipes call for a combination of ingredients such as berries, leafy greens, healthy fats, and a variety of spices. Strawberries and blueberries are the stars of this recipe as they are powerful antioxidants that help to reduce inflammation, boost immunity, and protect against disease. But berries aren’t the only source of goodness here. Adding a pinch of salt and a splash of freshly squeezed lemon juice will give you natural electrolytes. Chia or Hemp seeds contain a good supply of healthy fats. Pomegranate arils (seeds) are rich in antioxidants and support heart health while aiding in digestion. Bottom line: make it a habit to drink this smoothie to enjoy the rich benefits that these super-ingredients have to offer.

Just Ingredients Bone Broth Protein Powder

This is the BEST protein powder, hands down. Just Ingredients has made its way into my heart and home, and I love finding ways to use their clean products in my recipes. Known for their use of “high-quality, real-food ingredients—no natural or artificial flavors, no artificial sweeteners or colors, no added sugar, and no harsh solvents” Just Ingredients offers “nutrient-rich grass-fed beef bone broth to help nourish the gut and support immune health, plus grass-fed collagen to help maintain healthy skin and joints.”

Aimee from Homemaker on a Budget recommends adding a serving of Just Ingredients bone broth to smoothies.

Protein powder helps stabilize blood sugar by pairing protein with the natural sweetness and anti-inflammatory properties of berries. Plus it provides additional protein to ensure you hit your protein goals for the day. Besides the basic chocolate and vanilla, Just Ingredients offers a number of flavors: Salted Caramel, Chai, Mountain Berry, Mint Chocolate, and Snickerdoodle to name a few. It also has clear “fruity” protein powders such as strawberry and mango and these are great options for additional flavor profiles. Just Ingredients is available at some health food stores and retailers, but you can always find them easily online.

How to Make a Strawberry Blueberry Smoothie

This is the easy part! Just dump and blend. Because it’s so easy, I make this smoothie all the time. For breakfast, a meal in the car, or an after-school snack, it works every time! I begin by adding my berries to the blender first, then add pomegranate arils, chia or hemp seeds, salt, and protein powder, followed by the water and lemon juice. The order doesn’t really matter, as long as you throw everything in. Blend for at least 30 seconds, depending on your specific blender. If you prefer it a little thicker, add a little more frozen fruit. If you need to thin it out, add a little more water.

What I love about this slushie-style smoothie is that it is perfect for warmer weather.

Enjoy….It’s “berry” refreshing! (Don’t you love a good pun?)
