Best Strawberry Simple Syrup!

If you love strawberry season, this one’s for you! There’s just something about strawberries in spring when they’re fresh and ripe coming right off the vine. Strawberries are terrific carriers of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. That’s why I enjoy finding new ways to eat them! When grocery chains give you bottles packed with chemicals you can’t pronounce, preservatives you don’t want, and substances that set us back, I want you to know there’s another, better, healthier alternative: Homemade. That’s how I came up with my Simple 2-Ingredient Strawberry Syrup. I craft many of our sauces, condiments, and glazes from scratch, syrups included! With minimal ingredients, I make an all-natural, syrup with only strawberries and honey because I feel good about serving that to my family. I know the kids aren’t going to have a sugar crash later, and my husband and I can enjoy it guilt-free too.

How to Make Simple Strawberry Syrup

With only two ingredients in this recipe, it really doesn’t get much easier. Any home cook can manage it. However, I want to emphasize that because this recipe has only two ingredients, what you DO use matters.

  1. Use FROZEN strawberries*
  2. Use RAW honey

The method I prefer is to thaw my bag of frozen strawberries overnight, and then the next day, pour the bag of berries with their juices into the blender. Next, I will add the raw honey. Blend away until smooth and voila! No cooking required!

*If you only have fresh strawberries, you can make this work too. You’ll need to add a little water or juice to give the berries more liquid. The next time you’re at the store or making your click-list order, add a 10-oz bag of frozen organic strawberries to your purchase. I always recommend buying organic when possible!

How to Use Simple Strawberry Syrup

One of my favorite ways to serve simple strawberry syrup is at breakfast time (it lends itself to breakfast foods most often in our house, but you might come up with other ideas!) If you have a whim for strawberry pancakes, make the syrup! If you need strawberry sauce for ice-cream or fro-yo, make the syrup! If you want to jazz up your plain oatmeal or yogurt, make the syrup! Add it to waffles, biscuits, shortbread, or swirl it into cake batter. You can even sweeten tea or make strawberry lemonade with this simple but versatile syrup.

I store my simple strawberry syrup in a lidded mason jar in the refrigerator. It will last up to 5 days refrigerated.
